This painting is based on a cake my mother used to make that had many different layers of colour running through it. I used to enjoy watching her cutting that cake and so wanted to do a painting in memory of that early appreciation of colour.
I didn’t remember the exact colours of that cake so I decided to go with this wonderful mix of purples and pinks as they are ‘happy’ colours known to stimulate the joyous part of our emotional mind.
When I paint I think of my paintings hanging in peoples homes. With this art piece I know where ever it is hung it will provide a mood of joy and happiness just like my mothers multi-coloured cake.
Just as a note: The top ‘stripe’ was ment to be crooked as I wanted to add a little fun to this colour-field design. It is very subtle but yes, it is crooked.
